How Will Counselling Help Me?

Whether you are struggling with the overwhelm of anxiety, the exhausting burden of depression, the pain of loss or bereavement, relationship difficulties, low self-esteem or body image, longing to find a new direction in your life, or just need some support, counselling gives you a safe, non-judgmental, accepting place to explore these troubles, and gain a different perspective. Counselling enables us to have a deeper understanding of ourselves, and the situations which are causing us distress, giving us greater self-awareness and enabling us to shape and develop our lives and ourselves.

Humanistic counselling is a model of counselling which allows the client to be in control of the direction of the work. As your counsellor, my role is not to tell you what to do, or offer any judgements. I am there to enable you to reach your own conclusions and to guide you in this process. This can happen through deeper exploration, through giving you space and time to express and allow your emotions, or by learning coping mechanisms.

The BACP website has some useful information on the different types of therapy available and how therapy works here.

If you would like to find out more, please feel free to call, email or submit the contact form.

We can then schedule an initial session. This will give you a chance to get to know how I work and for us to talk about how counselling might be able to support you.
